Types of licences / authorisations
Personal Licence
A licence which is granted by a licensing authority to an individual, and authorises that individual to supply alcohol, or authorise the supply of alcohol, in accordance with a premises licence. Supplying alcohol can be both selling alcohol by retail, or supplying alcohol by or on behalf of a club to, or to the order of, a member of the club.
Premises Licence
A licence granted, in respect of any premises, which authorises the premises to be used for one or more licensable activities.
Temporary Event Notice (TEN)
Where it is proposed to use premises for one or more licensable activities during a period not exceeding 168 hours, an individual may give to the relevant licensing authority notice of that proposal.
Club Premises Certificate
Authorizes supply of alcohol to the members and guests of clubs that meet the required definitions. A qualifying club activity may be carried on under and in accordance with a club premises certificate.
