Staff training
Training your staff to prevent underage sales is the key to protect your business. Members of staff should not be able to sell age restricted products in your store, until they have received full training, or are being directly supervised by a fully trained staff member.
Induction training should, as a minimum, include a clear explanation of the law and company policy. Talking through this training platform with a new staff member is an effective form of induction training. End of the training, you should also ask the team member to complete a question and answer exercise.
The recommendation is to undertake regular refresher training to refresh your staffs knowledge about the law and company policies every 6 months. Ensure your staff sign and date a copy of their training sheets and keep it on file with your other training records.
