Prohibitions of alcohol sales
No premises licence, club premises certificate or temporary event notice has effect to authorise the sale by retail or supply of alcohol on or from excluded premises. Which are;
- premises situated on land acquired or appropriated by a special road authority,
- premises used primarily as a garage
- the retailing of petrol,
- the retailing of derv,
- the sale of motor vehicles,
- the maintenance of motor vehicles.
Retail stores inside gas stations that sell fruit, vegetables and other products can apply for a premises license to sell alcohol
Prohibition on sale of alcohol on moving vehicles: It is illegal to sell, by retail, alcohol on or from a vehicle at a time when the vehicle is not permanently or temporarily parked.
Power to prohibit sale of alcohol on trains: Where there is the risk of disorder, a senior police officer (inspector or above) may apply to a magistrates’ court for an order prohibiting the sale of alcohol at specified stations or when travelling between stations.
