Partnerships
For the reduction of alcohol-related crime and disorder; the police, license holders and others can work in partnership. Organizations such as Pubwatch and Shop Watch, often sponsored by the police and other authorities, and members of these associations work together to define joint strategies to support licensing objectives.
This has many benefits:
- A positive and mutually supportive relationship will be established between the personal license holders and the police.
- It is ensured that the police intervene more quickly when necessary.
- It is ensured that a common action is taken against those who cause problems.
- Violent events likely to be reduced
- Will lead to a safe environment, which will increase the trade volume
- Increases the safety of license holders and employees
- The public’s trust in such places increases
It should be kept in mind that problems can arise even in the best managed places. Collaborating with the police will increase the safety and dignity of the workplace.
Community Safety Partnerships
Community Safety Partnerships have replaced Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnerships. They include police, local council, fire, health and probation services that work with businesses and the community to address and mitigate specific crime and disorder issues in an area. They help to support licensing objectives by protecting the community from crime and making them feel safer.
