Licences for wholesalers to trade
Sales made to other traders for the purposes of their trade are not a licensable activity. They do not require to appoint a DPS. Wholesalers need a premises licence to sell alcohol in wholesale quantities to members of the public. If the alcohol is bought for personal consumption, the wholesaler would need to hold a premises licence.
Sales made to holders of premises licences, club premises certificates, personal licences and Temporary Event Notices are not a licensable activity if the sale is for the purposes authorised by those licences. Such as;
- Sales from breweries to licensed establishments
- Alcohol supply to retail traders
- A person or a business who has organized a temporary event
- Selling to a club
